Rev. Benjamin Burge
Rev. Benjamin Burge, named in the foregoing sketch (See Samuel Burge), was born at Francistown, N. H. For years he was an esteemed pastor of the Congregational church, until his death in 1S48. His widow, Mrs. Lucretia (Dewey) Burge, was a daughter of Andrew Dewey, a farmer of Hanover, N. H., who died on the farm in Goshen township, in 1857. Shortly after the death of her husband, Mrs. Burge and family moved to Nashua, N. H., where she resided until coming to Lewiston, Ill., in 1853. The name and family are well known in the pioneer history of New Hampshire, particularly in the Hollis neighborhood, where the old residence of the Burges has a history antedating 1740.
